File extension aac information

AAC format allows for more flexibility on the part of developers than would be possible using the MP3 format. It is universally accepted that at low bit rates, which is about 128 kilobytes and less per second, it is much better than MP3. However, at higher bit rates, its audio quality goes down and it no longer dominates above MP3. Devices known to play this particular format are Palm OS PDAs and smartphones. Devices running Microsoft Windows Mobile application are also able to support its playback either via the native media player of use or a third-party application.
AAC works by either using a coding algorithm that eliminates redundancies in a coded signal or discarding irrelevant signal components. This in turn dramatically reduces the data size while maintaining the high quality of the saved audio. Signals are converted to frequency samples from time samples by the use of filter banks. Error correction codes are then added and then stored ready for transmission. Apple has developed a DRM restricted form of this file extension that even allows visitors of the iTunes store to use its audio encoding for movies and videos.
